Customer Success Ref: ZG-US-AM-004
Founding Account Manager, Legal AI, New York
The Role
A 14-person company in New York sells AI timekeeping software to law firms. Until now nobody has worked the existing customer base full time. This hire is the first.
You own retention, expansion and renewals across more than 200 law firm accounts, reporting to a co-founder. It is a commercial seat. You negotiate, you close, and you build the playbook the next account managers will run.
What You Will Do
- Drive renewals, seat expansion, term extensions and upsells across the book
- Set the check-in cadence: QBRs for the larger firms, a lighter touch for the rest
- Own adoption of new features, so the people paying for the product use what ships
- Build the dashboards and automations that flag churn risk and expansion openings early
- Bring recurring customer feedback into roadmap decisions
What You Need
- 3 to 7 years in customer success, account management or post-sales at a B2B SaaS startup
- Direct ownership of retention, expansion and renewals. Support-only experience is not this job
- Dashboards or automations you built yourself in Zapier, n8n or a similar tool
- A CRM habit that holds up across 100 or more accounts at once
- Early-stage experience, seed to Series B, where you built the process yourself
- Credibility with sceptical, senior stakeholders
- In the New York office five days a week, and willing to travel to see customers
Who This Does Not Suit
- People who need an existing playbook to be effective
- Reactive account managers with no appetite for upsell or negotiation
- People who have only worked in large companies
Useful, Not Required
- Experience selling to, or managing, lawyers, professional services firms or senior executives
Package
- Base salary: US$104,000 to US$144,000
- On-target earnings: US$130,000 to US$180,000
- Equity: 0.25% to 0.45%
- Work rights: US citizen or permanent resident. No visa sponsorship or transfers
- Location: on-site, New York
